The Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language and the Palencia Provincial Council are organizing the reading promotion workshop "I Read, Therefore I Am" at the Guardo Municipal Public Library on Monday, February 23, at 5:30 p.m. The workshop, led by journalist, writer, and cultural communicator José María Lebrero Vecino, is organized in collaboration with the Guardo City Council. It is a cultural experience that invites participants to discover the visible and hidden benefits of reading.
This dynamic and engaging workshop invites participants to reflect, discuss, and experiment with books, demonstrating that reading is not only about learning, but also about feeling, creating, and enjoying. Designed for young people and adults, it combines talks, discussions, and literary recommendations to spark curiosity and a love of reading. It's an opportunity to reconnect with books, discover new stories, and experience reading as a vital and transformative experience.
With this initiative, the Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language aims to make reading accessible to everyone, highlighting its power, its playful nature, and the commitment it entails. "I Read, Therefore I Am" is designed to discover, awaken, and expand the magic of reading, as well as the pleasure it can offer. Enhancing perception, observation, sensitivity, curiosity, imagination, and intuition are other key aspects of this project.
Lebrero aims to highlight the hidden benefits of reading, encouraging a greater appreciation for books and writing by emphasizing that reading should not be seen as a punishment and showcasing books as valuable and meaningful objects in daily life and homes. Furthermore, he seeks to demystify the figure of the writer and reveal the creative process behind texts, combating the perception that it is a serious and difficult activity, and making books something vibrant, accessible, and enriching both intellectually and emotionally.
José María Lebrero is a journalist with a solid career in the media, including experience in radio and television. He is the author of the novels *Ella no lo sabía* (She Didn't Know) , with a prologue by Jesús Ferrero; *El rastro de la sombra* (The Shadow's Trail ); *Elvis y el mendigo (La confesión final)* (Elvis and the Beggar (The Final Confession)) ; *Los guardianes invisibles* (The Invisible Guardians) (Mexico); *Las aventuras de un enclenque inmortal* (The Adventures of a Weak Immortal ), winner of the 1st Hades Editions Novel Competition; *Thelma y Tiemblo* (Thelma and I Tremble); and *Los guardianes invisibles* (The Invisible Guardians) (Spain), winner of the 5th International Competition for Children's and Young Adult Literature in Mexico. He was a finalist in the Public Reading Competition in Castilla y León.
