Conference on narrative

"Essentials"

For the third consecutive year, the Castilian-Leonese Institute of Language has commissioned José Ignacio García to write a new study. García, one of the leading experts on novels and short stories written in our region, once again examines regional narrative, both short and long , with his usual comprehensive and attentive perspective.

In his two previous works ( The Call of the Books and The Future Is Written ), he focused on the works that had captivated him as a reader and on the emerging talents in our prose. This time, however, he focuses on fundamental writers, those who are at the peak of their maturity . These authors do not remain limited to a limited scope; rather, they reach all discerning readers , and their words are the pure essence of quality literature . Their value is independent of whether they have won major awards or are published by major publishers.

These authors are essential and indispensable for several reasons:

  • Some, for their long and recognized career .

  • Others, for the great contribution of his work to the ethnography and culture of his land.

  • Some more, because they have turned the story (or the tale) into their impregnable specialty .

  • There are even some who, thanks to the quality of a publication, have been placed in the elite of the novel, distancing themselves for a moment from their prestige as a poet .
