On Tuesday, August 5th, at 7:30 pm, Soria City Council and the Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language are organizing a recital , "Poems on a Peace Footing ," by poet, singer, and composer Ángel Petisme in Alameda Park in the capital of Soria. The event is part of the Expoesía Book Fair program, which the City Council is promoting from August 1st to 8th. Petisme will share poems and songs with the public, born from his travels over a quarter of a century through war zones and armed conflicts such as Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Western Sahara, and other African countries.
Critics have praised Petisme's capacity for poetry, and he has founded a new act of conscience against the absolute roots of the evil of war, against the epic of the West and the moralizing discourse of the just patriot. The poet and critic from El Bierzo, Juan Carlos Mestre, has praised his work for its ability to personify matter in his verses and songs, the penultimate gasp of modern societies before the Apocalypse . Petisme offers necessary and courageous songs in times of surrender and cowardice, against the specters of imperialism and the, misnamed, consumer society of precariousness, he notes.
Ángel Petisme (Calatayud, Zaragoza, 1961) is a poet, singer, and composer. He holds a degree in Italian Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid.
