Free adaptation of the homonymous work by Carlo Goldoni.

Lelio , a Venetian who has spent years away from home, returns to Venice with his servant Arlecchino . There he will court Rosalba , Lindora's daughter, and Arlecchino her maid Dorina , without telling them the truth about who they really are. Meanwhile, Florencio silently loves Rosalba. This allows Lelio to invent fabulous stories and convince Rosalba that he wishes to marry her.

The lies lead them into ever deeper problems with the young girls and their own mother, Mrs. Zulmira.
