The book celebrates the life of the sister of the author who won the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for Memoir and Autobiography for this work. "Liliana's Invincible Summer" has received the José Donoso, Nuevo Leon, Alfonso Reyes, Xavier Villaurrutia, Rodolfo Walsh, and Mazatlán Literature Prizes since its publication. It is one of the author's greatest achievements, and she is one of the most influential writers in contemporary Latin American literature, having published ten novels and been a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
In "Liliana's Invincible Summer," Liliana Rivera Garza's intimate and public past is reconstructed through her own words, thoughts, and doubts, written in notes, phrases, and diaries compiled by her sister. We witness the reconstruction of the events leading up to the murder of the then-young university student, whose story reflects a system riddled with violence that has silenced thousands of women.
With sensitivity and strength, the staging invites us to remember, to be moved, and to no longer look away. This work, like the book that inspired it, is an act of love, a way of telling a woman's story in her own voice, of honoring her time on this earth. It is an exercise in mourning and a political act of reclaiming her voice, her dignity, and her justice.
Genre: Theatre. Style: Dramatic. Duration: 90 min.
Show included in the programming of the Network of Theatres of Castilla y León.
