Zamora Museum - The exhibition "Archive Territory 2016-2026 (fragments). Javier Ayarza" can be visited until October 18.

The proposal is conceived as an archaeology of the present, an investigation based on the conditions that make a territory visible and legible. Initiated in 2016 and still ongoing, the project is developing a photographic archive of the natural regions of Tierra de Campos and Cerrato, which currently comprises around 25,000 images from the provinces of Palencia, Zamora, Valladolid, Leon, and Burgos. Far from being a closed inventory, it is configured as an open compilation of fragments, remains, and traces.

Ayarza views the territory as a space traversed by historical, economic, and social tensions, where ruin, labor, abandonment, and resistance to change converge. The constructed archive, as a critical instrument, focuses on what has been relegated to the margins and finds particular interest in the elements lacking prestige, which introduce a clear friction with the historical density that has always characterized this space.
