In the mid-1990s, Dublin was nothing short of a war zone, with powerful drug lords fighting for control. Their most fearsome rivals were not just the police, but especially one courageous journalist, Veronica Guerin, who covered the source of crime with unparalleled intensity. No one has ever brought so many names and facts to light. Dedicating her life to these cases and putting everyone around her in danger, she became a folk hero to the people of Ireland; each attempt on her life only fueled her legend. Her brutal murder in June 1996 forced a drastic review of Ireland's laws and, in turn, led to the arrest of the country's most notorious criminals.
