Hiking along the Calderones de Piedrasecha Route
Located in the León region of Luna, this spectacular mountain gorge, as fascinating as it is narrow, is one of the most beautiful natural corridors in the province. Starting from the Piedrasecha church and after crossing the bridge over the Calderones stream, a path of low difficulty begins that leads to the Calderones gorge. In reality, it is an old secondary route of the Forgotten Way, a pilgrimage route to Compostela, of just over 7 kilometers in which the Cueva de las Palomas is located, a small rock hermitage where the image of Our Lady of the Manadero is venerated and that each The month of July brings together neighbors and visitors in a lively pilgrimage.
The route takes place on the river bed, the summer time being the ideal time to do it as that is when the waters continue their course underground. Master class in open-air geology, its capricious shapes and chromatic games fascinate equally, until reaching the mountain passes of the central massif of the Cantabrian Mountains used for centuries by transhumance.
