The tour begins in the winery area. From here you face the ascent of Cerro de Altamira on its west face, advancing between Aleppo pines.

Once you reach the highest part of the Páramo de Valdecastro, you have to admire the impressive views of the Vega del Pisuerga and the Montes Torozos. The particular layout of the municipality stands out, divided in two by its majestic medieval bridge, of Roman origin. On clear days we can distinguish several distant towns and, at dusk, the sunsets will be unforgettable, as captured in the well-known "Soles de Cabezón", an example of the mastery of local craftsmen.

We continue advancing along the marked path, with slight undulations, coming to see the cliffs , formations capriciously sculpted by the river for centuries and that abruptly put the surface of the moors in contact with the bottom of the valley, with a drop of up to 140 meters the banks of the Pisuerga. From this impressive natural viewpoint, we see the Monastery of Santa María de Palazuelos, head of the Cistercian Order in Castile for 3 centuries.

It is common to find gypsum crystals on the ground, due to the particular geology of the terrain. Furthermore, as it is a protected area included in the Natura 2000 Network, there is a rich bird fauna along the banks of the Pisuerga. Continuing with the path and reaching a wide forest track, we will descend turning left, leaving the river on our right. Before starting the return, it is advisable to go a few meters along the path that continues to the right, to be able to see the panoramic view offered by the San Martín cliffs with their different geomorphological tones.

After leaving the cultivated fields behind, we will take a path that will take us again to the cliffs, this time, admire them from below, without a doubt, one of the most unique natural landscapes in the province of Valladolid . The path continues at an intermediate level of the moor, parallel to the river, until it reaches the town again.
