Villalmanzo was born in the Middle Ages during the Mozarabic repopulation of the Middle and Lower Arlanza.
His first years of life were not easy, located near the border of the nascent Castile, like other neighboring towns, he suffered harassment from the Moorish battalions, being devastated up to three times and burned by the French occupation troops, in their retreat, after that they were defeated in the battle of Arapiles by the Anglo-Spanish-Portuguese army.
From the war, among others, some houses in the "Cantarranas" neighborhood, known since then as "Solas houses", were saved.
