The San Agustín Cultural Center in El Burgo de Osma hosts the exhibition El vuelo del mirlo. Los primer años de una revista que trina (The Flight of the Blackbird. The First Years of a Trilling Magazine) from May 29 to July 8. This exhibition recreates the origins of the editorial project launched in the photography and literature magazine Mirlo , by the photographer and designer Asís G. Ayerbe (Valladolid, 1978) and the writer Óscar Esquivias (Burgos, 1972), curators of this exhibition project. Both artists have been involved since their university years in various literary publications such as El mono de la tinta , Calamar or Entelequia . The exhibition offers a selection of images and texts from the first 21 issues that this publication has published since its creation in December 2022.

Produced by the Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language, the exhibition The Flight of the Blackbird continues in El Burgo de Osma with the support of the Soria Provincial Council, a tour that began in September 2024 at the Palacio de la Isla in Burgos, headquarters of the ILCYL, and which will continue to other cultural facilities in Castilla y León.

The monthly magazine Mirlo develops a monographic theme in both artistic and literary terms, characterized in each issue by its variety of content and its love of play and literary and artistic experimentation. Each issue presents a different approach and design. Thus, issues have been printed in white ink on black paper or in phosphorescent ink that can only be read in the dark. In its brief history, the publication has embraced multiple literary forms and genres: micro-stories, greguerías, aphorisms, journalistic reports, sonnets, branching stories, and haikus. All the literary creations collected in its pages were unpublished at the time of publication, as was the score published in issue 20, composed for that occasion.

This exhibition presents a selection of texts published by Marta Jiménez Serrano, Esperanza Ortega, Lola Tórtola, Lola García Garrido, Francisco José Morán, Nuria Mendoza, José Manuel Oca, Ángel Herraiz, Arancha Maestro, Sara Caviedes, María Jesús Jabato, Emilio Gavilanes, Fernando Díez San Miguel, Jesús Marchamalo, Carmen Ballvé, Saif Ur Rehman Raja, and Chiara Boccardi. In each special issue, Mirlo creatively connects photography and literature; its pages also feature the artistic work of a large group of authors from Castilla y León, such as José Gutiérrez Román, Tomás Sánchez Santiago, Ignacio Sanz, Francisco Castaño, Gustavo Martín Garzo, Sara Caviedes, Eduardo Fraile Valles, María Jesús Jabato, and José Manuel Oca.
