International Book Day is a commemoration celebrated worldwide every April 23rd since 1988 with the aim of promoting reading, the publishing industry, and the protection of intellectual property through copyright. It is an international celebration promoted by UNESCO and celebrated in more than 100 countries.

With this initiative, the Castilian-Leonese Institute of Language aims to showcase its work on research into the origins of the Spanish language and the promotion of the literature of the region, and to bring to light the history of one of the most emblematic buildings in the capital of Burgos, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) in 1942.
