On Tuesday, March 17th , at 7:00 p.m. , at the Palencia Public Library, a reading club will be held, led by Félix Ruiz, about the comic Spirit, created by Will Eisner in 1940.
Beneath the guise of a detective story starring a masked hero, Eisner developed a deeply personal body of work, open to formal experimentation and the portrayal of modern urban life.
Unlike other comics of its time, The Spirit wasn't limited to adventure or the confrontation between heroes and villains. Eisner used the series as a space for creative freedom in which to explore humor, melodrama, irony, and, above all, the human condition. Many stories even dispense with the Spirit himself as the protagonist to focus on secondary characters, anonymous citizens, or losers caught in the social contradictions of the big city.
There are 15 places available. Registration and comics can be borrowed at the Newspaper Library (2nd Floor).
