Ignacio Fernández Herrero
Eolas Ediciones, 2026

Participants:

  • Ignacio Fernández Herrero
  • Héctor Escobar (editor)

What do love songs say about love? What do they tell us? What do we learn from them? In songs, as in all literature and in film, we have been educated emotionally and we repeat many of their models without considering that they are pure fiction. As Christina Rosenvinge aptly puts it, and as is reflected here: "Those of us who write songs have a lot of stories to tell."

The essay that occupies the second part of this book reflects on all of this and examines how much can be inferred about love from a portion of the songbook—that portion which we might consider characteristic of the author and his generation. The stories that precede it are, in essence, the practical application of the theory. Both explain the reasons behind our (slightly) off-key songs and loves.

Ignacio Fernández Herrero (Leon, 1958) has primarily been a trade unionist, although his true calling was, at heart, that of a Language and Literature teacher. In his union activities, he served as General Secretary of CCOO Leon (2004-2017), Secretary of Culture and Social Movements for CCOO Castilla y León (2017-2025), and president of the Jesús Pereda Foundation during that latter period. He currently remains actively involved in the trade union, cultural, and critical thought spheres.

She published her first book of poetry in 2006, 'Lógica borracha' (Blurred Logic), which was included in the catalog of the Provincial Collection of the Provincial Council of Leon. With Eolas Ediciones, she has published two essays: 'Poscontemporáneos' (Post-Contemporaries) (2017) and 'A la siniestra' (To the Left) (2023). She was also a member of the editorial team of the poetry magazine 'Fake'.
