An informative talk will be given in commemoration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Laura Mezquita will discuss radon gas, a particularly relevant risk factor in the province of Zamora, its link to lung cancer, and its impact on our health. She will explain the importance of understanding this still little-known environmental risk and what measures can be taken to reduce exposure and the risk of developing cancer.
Laura Mezquita . Physician from Zamora, medical oncologist and researcher. Head of the Thoracic Tumor Unit of the Medical Oncology Service at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona.
She studied Medicine and completed her residency in Salamanca. She then worked at the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital . She received her PhD from the University of Alcalá de Henares (2018). Between 2015 and 2020, she worked at the Gustave Roussy Cancer Center in Paris, one of the leading cancer centers in Europe.
