One of the goals of the Miguel Manzano Professional Music Conservatory in Zamora is to promote the school's students through activities held outside the school. This way, the school's training is publicized, bringing students closer to the public. Furthermore, it allows students to leave their usual environment and face new challenges.
With this concert, Álvaro Sánchez Mangas brings the Professional Cello Studies cycle to a close. He will offer a journey through the sublime beauty and musical complexity of J.S. Bach 's Suite IV, followed by R. Schumann 's Cello Concerto in A minor, Op. 129, which he never heard in his lifetime, and concluding with D. Shostakovich 's Cello Sonata in D minor, Op. 40, a work that reflects the turbulent atmosphere of the period of political and social upheaval latent in the Soviet Union at that time.
