CINHOMO in figures

  • The festival reaches its 25th edition.
  • 52 film works will be exhibited over 8 days of screening and 3 venues.
  • Of the 15 feature films, 13 are in competition. The other 2 are considered the festival's gems.
  • 23 short fiction films enter the competition.
  • Cinhomo has selected 13 documentaries, of which 6 are feature films and 7 are short films.
  • 19 countries will be represented at Cinhomo 2026.
  • Cinhomo is made possible by the volunteer work of 23 people. 24 social organizations, unions, small businesses, and bars provide financial support, along with institutional sponsors.

The opening gala will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 7:30 pm at the Teatro Zorrilla , hosted by the charismatic actor from Valladolid, Jorge Calvo. "Entró con un hacha" (He Entered with an Axe), a short film about intersex memory directed by Cande Lázaro, will be the first screening of the festival after its run at other prestigious events.

The Casablanca Cinemas , home to CINHOMO for two decades, will host the fiction screenings for another year.

The Seminci Space , for its part, will host the documentary series on Human Rights and Sexual Diversity.

CINHOMO HONORARY AWARD: José Luis Cienfuegos transformed the Spanish film landscape throughout his career leading festivals such as the Gijón Film Festival, the Seville Film Festival, and, finally, the Valladolid Film Festival (SEMINCI). A director, promoter, and staunch defender of auteur cinema, Cienfuegos dared to program filmmakers like Derek Jarman, whose work was considered scandalous at the time. CINHOMO expresses its gratitude for his courage and commitment to representing LGBTQ+ realities in film and, therefore, awards him the 2026 CINHOMO Honorary Award posthumously, following his death last December.
