The Valladolid City Council and the Castilian-Leonese Institute of Language are organizing a new session of "Telling Music" on Monday, September 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Public Library of Castilla y León . This music appreciation talk will be given by José Luis López Antón, director of the Avila Symphony Orchestra. In this discussion of classical music, he will analyze Felix Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 4 in A major, Op. 90, Italian , composed between 1830 and 1833, inspired by the composer's trip to Italy.
Italiana is a composition notable for its luminosity and vitality, structured in four movements: 1. Allegro vivace: A radiant, energetic opening in sonata form, evoking Mediterranean joy and vitality; 2. Andante con moto: A solemn and somber movement inspired by Italian religious processions, with a choral character; 3. Con moto moderato: An elegant and serene movement in minuet form, with a clear classicist influence; and 4. Saltarello: Presto: A vibrant and frenetic finale, based on popular Italian dances (saltarello and tarantella). Overall, the work is a musical homage to Italian light and passion, combining formal mastery and youthful freshness. "Contando la música" (Telling the Music) is an educational initiative born from this young musician's desire to bring the public closer to the intricacies of the great masterpieces of classical music from different genres.
José Luis López Antón is considered one of the brightest prospects of the new generation of orchestra conductors in Spain.
