Claudio Rodríguez
From "Gift of Drunkenness" to "Spells"

Between 1947 and 1964, Claudio Rodríguez traveled the path from adolescence to youth and, finally, to maturity. Four cities delimit each emotional space of this growth: Zamora, Madrid, Nottingham, and Cambridge. Right between them, revealing the crisis brought on by each change, are two books that highlight the end of one stage and the beginning of another in the decisive years of the man's life, rather than that of the poet, his formative years: "Gift of Drunkenness" and "Conjuring."

The Claudio Rodríguez Permanent Seminar has created this exhibition about our beloved poet and these two key works in his work. The proposal presented is complex, as the materials on display are original and diverse (correspondence, first editions, drawings, photographs, etc.). This entire collection of materials, carefully organized and explained in pertinent texts, makes up the exhibition. Visiting it is like venturing into Claudio's Zamora and the literary world of that time.

The exhibition is sponsored by: the Junta de Castilla y León, the Jorge Guillén Foundation, the Zamora Public Library, and the Caja Rural Foundation.
