From October 8 to November 8 , the exhibition Instruments of the Spanish Musical Tradition by Juan Cruz Silva Naveros can be visited in the Exhibition Hall of the Palencia Public Library.
An educational exhibition featuring more than 200 instruments representative of Spanish musical folklore, from everyday utensils used for rhythmic accompaniment to the voice, such as pans, cauldrons, spoons, etc., to more sophisticated instruments such as the dulzaina, accordion, and hurdy-gurdy, as well as all types of flutes, dulzainas, and rebecs.
Juan Cruz Silva Naveros (Palencia 1961) is a teacher, graduate in psychology, and a university specialist in traditional studies. A professional dulzainero since 1981, he is a member of groups such as Los Dulzaineros de Campos, the band Alto Riesgo, the folk groups Almacántaro and D'Campos Folk, and the medieval music group Charamella.
Since 1990, he has been a dulzaina and snare drum teacher at the Universidad Popular de Palencia, as well as at several municipal schools in the province. He has taught courses on dulzaina, traditional percussion, the rebec, and traditional instrument making.
Founding member of the Association of Friends of the Joaquín Díaz Foundation, and member of Instrumenta, the Spanish Association for the Study of Musical Instruments and Their Collections. He has participated and collaborated in the publication of some twenty records and phonographic productions and in the book "The Dulzaina in the Tierra de Campos Palentina."
