From June 8th to July 31st, the exhibition about Miguel Ángel Medrano Rivilla , born in Avila in 1950 and a graduate of the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Madrid, can be visited in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Historical Archive.

More than 45 years of professional experience related to architecture and urban planning, in which around a thousand interventions have been carried out, including urban planning, residential buildings, isolated single-family homes, grouped and multi-residential buildings, unique buildings, rehabilitations, commercial, industrial, agricultural, hospitality, leisure, sports buildings and spaces, interior design, etc., complemented with work in the different fields linked to building action such as real estate developments, construction, cooperative management or consulting.

The years of professional practice, the aforementioned activities, and the social changes along with the political and economic cycles that arose (and were suffered) throughout those years, have implied a constant evolution that is logically detected in the works.

Professional activity has been developed mainly in Avila capital and throughout the province of Ávila, extending to other neighboring provinces, with numerous works in Madrid, Toledo and Segovia and more occasionally in Valladolid, Salamanca or Guadalajara.

"Architecture is a creative activity that endures over time, which is why its practice is so satisfying. You create a city not only with the buildings scattered throughout it, but also, as in my case, having carried out and implemented a great deal of planning and urban development, with new streets, new areas of the city, and expansions of urban centers. And let's not forget how rewarding the rehabilitation and restoration work is on historic buildings or buildings of any other architectural, structural, or historical interest."

Since 2023, this entire "thousand of projects" has been part of the holdings of the Provincial Historical Archive of Avila. This archive not only comprises the approved and completed projects, but also all the preliminary documents and their modifications, sketches, drawings, and designs, some of which were never implemented.

This archive is highly significant due to its size and span of time (nearly 300 boxes, containing approximately 200 original plans, dating from 1979 to 2022). It includes all the files and projects from their inception and development to their completion. This documentary collection contributes to and shapes a better understanding of the development of the profession and, in this case, of Miguel's creative work and professional activity.

The exhibition "Memories of the Present. Spaces that Remain. Miguel Ángel Medrano Rivilla, Architect" aims to showcase the creative process and its evolution. It is also a tribute to his professional career and to all those who have collaborated with him, as well as an expression of gratitude for his generosity in ensuring that this archive is preserved, made available, and forms part of our collective memory.
