We will be joined by writer and literary critic Erica Durante , Professor of Hispanic Studies at Brown University. We will have the opportunity to speak with her about her field of specialization, contemporary Latin American literature written by women, which is also the subject of her book Arpilleras , recently published by Páginas de Espuma.

Arpilleras is an essay that illuminates the consolidation of contemporary Latin American women writers as a literary, cultural, social, and political constellation that has redefined 21st-century Spanish-language literature. It is a book for those who have been reading these writers for years, writers whose centrality has been denied to their predecessors. Arpillera (a collective practice of women weaving scraps into a tapestry of memory and resistance) brings these authors together as a whole. Following the threads that run through novels, short stories, and essays, Arpilleras discovers affinities that, when read in relation to one another, reveal a network where they seemed to advance along parallel paths. Constructed in the style of Virginia Woolf, the researcher's analysis and the reader's intimacy intertwine to offer a cartography of one of the most significant literary phenomena of our time.

The conversation is moderated by Alejandro Jiménez Cid , librarian of this house.

Activity carried out in collaboration with Librería Diagonal and Editorial Páginas de Espuma .
