A saleswoman-hawker arrives in Salamanca looking for lives. She carries all her fortune in her cart. She sells fruit, sausages, cheese, bread and everything else she has. Few trust her. When sales are not good, she tells stories and passes the cap to see if some maravedí falls.

After trying to sell some tools and failing, it's time to start the show. A town crier and storyteller, something she learned from her husband, the rogue begins to recount, like a great puppeteer, the story of Lázaro de Tormes, the adventures and misadventures the rogue endured in order to earn a living.

He immerses us in stories and legends, bewitching us and tricking us into producing a coin and something to eat. Then, he can continue on his way. A path that will lead him to another square, another city, any other place where he can deceive and continue surviving. Our protagonist is none other than Teresa, wife of Lázaro de Tormes. The Rogue who deceived the Rogue.
