"Caliban and the Witch: Women, Body and Primitive Accumulation"
Speaker: Asunción de Álvaro Benito
This session will address the research on "Caliban and the Witch , " a work by philosopher Silvia Federici that has transformed the academic and cultural paradigm of recent decades. The key points will be:
- To analyze the historically invisible perspective of multidimensional violence (physical, economic and symbolic) exercised against women to facilitate the accumulation of capital.
- Examine the process of relegating women to the domestic sphere and caregiving under the guise of a subordinate "nature".
- To delve deeper into the construction of the myth of the "witch" as a tool of control over women who challenged established power structures.
