The Salamanca City Council and the Castilian and Leonese Institute of Language are organizing the event "Legends of Oral Tradition" on Tuesday, October 20th, at 8:00 PM in the Sala de la Palabra (Hall of Words) at the Teatro Liceo in Salamanca. The event will feature archaeologist and prehistorian Mercedes Cano Herrera, PhD in Prehistory from the University of Valladolid , where she was a tenured professor of Social Anthropology. Her presentation, titled "Transmitters and Function of Legends of Oral Tradition in Traditional Societies," will be given to the Salamanca audience.

Legends of Oral Tradition is a firm commitment to recovering and disseminating the rich oral tradition of Castilla y León, with legends and stories born in rural areas and passed down from generation to generation to the present day. This initiative represents an attempt to recover legends, traditions, and stories that have been transmitted through generations from parents to children and that, in many cases, originate in rural communities of Castilla y León.
