STUDIO DRIFT
In 2007, artists Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta founded DRIFT, known for its installations, kinetic sculptures, and performances that explore the delicate relationship between nature, technology, and humanity. Studio Drift presents two of its most famous kinetic sculptures at MUSAC: Meadow and Amplitude.
SECUNDINO HERNÁNDEZ
Commissioner: Álvaro Rodríguez Fominaya
Total Station is a journey through the monumental works produced by painter Secundino Hernández (Madrid, 1975) in the last decade. Based on Juan Ramón Jiménez's work, *La estación total*, the exhibition includes a range of works that reflect diverse approaches to the pictorial phenomenon, from his "mechanical subtractions" to his "stitching." The conceptual starting point is his polyptych *Four Seasons. Between Summer and Fall* (2017), shown for the first time in Spain, from which this work was conceived. Hernández delves into the historical roots of abstraction, and his process resembles that of an archaeologist, bringing strata to the surface through physical processes and cutting the fabrics that support his works.
Luis Moro
Curated by: Fernando Castro Flórez
Luis Moro (Segovia, 1969), an artist of great international projection distinguished in 2022 with the Castilla y León Prize for the Arts, has been developing for years a production with a certain fondness for post-expressionist figuration. Moro, passionate about drawing, proposes a work in which, as Miguel Cereceda has pointed out, there is always a concern for the relationship between man and nature, but also with the dialectic of tradition and culture. Representations of animals populate Luis Moro's imagination, which, beyond the obvious or pamphleteering, displays a symbolism of marked ecological implication.
The Roar of the Earth is an exhibition conceived for the MUSAC (Music Museum of Contemporary Art) featuring large-format paintings alongside drawings and processual materials. If in some of his actions the artist has literally launched an "SOS" message, he now displays an impressive "fauna" that calls for a less aggressive attitude toward the world we share. What should be "saved" is the soul of the world, that animal that Luis Moro links to the "anima."
