A tour of the highlights of the artistic and scientific work of the paleontological illustrator Mauricio Antón, closely linked to the Atapuerca project and who has given a face to the most emblematic species of the Atapuerca Sites such as 'Homo antecessor' or the pre-Neanderthals of the Sima de los Huesos.
Mauricio Antón's first works in the field of paleontological illustration were collaborations with paleontologists specializing in the study and reconstruction of Mesozoic faunas, including of course the dinosaurs, but also other groups of extinct animals.
Paleoart is more than the creation of images of prehistoric life: it is a process of reconstruction in which the images are the visual embodiment of scientific hypotheses, created from the study of fossils and their interpretation in biological terms.
