New lecture by Carlos Gutiérrez Cajaraville as part of the "Musical Afternoons" series at the Library of Castilla y León.
On this occasion, we will embark on a sonic journey back to the 15th and 16th centuries. If we accept that the Renaissance can be understood, in essence, as a return to the ideals of classical Greece in the arts and thought, we must ask ourselves: how could music, a fleeting and ethereal art by nature, embrace such a purpose? How can we imitate that of which no testimony has survived? Through the works of Dufay, Ockeghem, Josquin, and Monteverdi, we will allow the echoes of the past to guide us in a reflection on this fascinating enigma.
