What silence holds: music and contemplation

In our final session of the course, I propose a sonic reflection on the necessity of contemplation, attention, and patience in an age dominated by productivity, haste, and noise. Through a musical and literary journey, we will consider silence not as mere absence, but as an intense form of presence. Emptiness can imprison, when it becomes a narcissistic mirror, but it can also open, when it allows us to hear the other, the lost, the invisible, or the unspoken. Music thus emerges as a pedagogy of attention: it teaches us to perceive the smallest things, to sustain waiting, to not immediately fill every void with noise or explanation. Music and art will help us understand that contemplation is not about withdrawing from the world, but about learning to inhabit it with greater clarity.
