The Aspanias Foundation wishes to pay tribute to these two artists who have traced—separately, yet in parallel—two ways of imprinting their mark on the public's vision, undoubtedly sharing the restlessness of the mind or the tranquility of monotony, translated and given meaning with the magic of their brushes.
Francisco J. Pino (Burgos, 1943) His paintings are characterized by rural themes, loose brushstrokes, and balanced color, embodying a classic vision that resonates with the viewer. Melancholic landscapes where humankind has left its mark on nature's memory. Sober still lifes and a deep affection for the people who live far from the city. A longing for a life without upheavals, yet full of nuances, which he captures through snapshots of customs that today seem so distant: the sower, the shepherd, the village, the pilgrimage—his work embodies the silence and the shared understanding of ordinary people.
Santiago García (Burgos, 1981) The need to paint arose as a way to find balance, refuge, and a path. Landscapes, daydreams, and realities only accessible through desire and illusion. On this occasion, he presents a selection of works full of contrasting colors. His early abstraction and rigidity, aimed at conveying a clear message, gave way, over the years, to a figurative style with more volume and perspective, though with less room for interpretation.
