On January 12th, we're starting a new activity at the library for children aged 8 to 10. It's a three-session philosophy workshop led by Ricardo Pastor García-Alcalá.
Philosophy at an early age is a powerful tool for awakening curiosity and critical thinking.
Through simple questions like "Why are we good or bad? What does it mean to be fair? Why is freedom so important? Or what is happiness?" children learn to reflect, argue, and listen to different points of view. This exercise not only enriches their language and ability to express themselves, but also helps them understand the world from a deeper and more respectful perspective.
Introducing philosophy in childhood fosters essential values such as empathy, tolerance, and creativity. When children dare to question and engage in dialogue, they develop skills that will serve them throughout their lives: thinking for themselves, making sound decisions, and living consciously in society.
Ultimately, philosophy is not just for adults; it is an invitation for children to discover that great ideas also arise from their questions.
