To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Antonio Machado 's birth, we are paying tribute to this universal poet , so deeply connected to our land, with a photography exhibition entitled " Fields of Castile ," which will be on view on the ground floor of the library from October 24th.
The images are the work of Soria-born photographer César Sanz Marcos, who has exhibited throughout Spain and is the author of several photography books, all of which are a constant tribute to the landscapes of Soria. One of them, " Fields of Castile and Other Machadian Universes ," compiles his photographic work, which is updated and revised today in this exhibition.
The exhibition blends image with poetry, as all the photographs are inspired by Machado's verses collected in his masterpiece, " Campos de Castilla ." It is a reinterpretation of the exhibition with which we commemorated the 80th anniversary of the poet's death in 2019. It consists of eight panels with 42 previously unpublished photographs, each with its corresponding Machado verses, and an interesting bibliographic selection from our collection related to Machado's works.
The exhibition will be open to the public from October 24 to April 20, 2026, at the Library Entrance during library opening hours.
