The concert lasts about 50 to 60 minutes.
An Intermezzo (interlude or intermission) is normally a short piece of music, intended to be performed between the acts of a long work, as a break and entertainment, although this name can also be given to a single composition.
Of the twenty short piano works that Brahms published in opuses 116, 117, 118, and 119, fourteen are titled "Intermezzo." Brahms probably considered the term sufficiently generic to suit his creative needs. There is a very pronounced tendency in Brahms's compositional style toward simplicity and concentration.
It is not known why Brahms stopped producing larger and more important piano works, but the smaller size of his later works in no way diminishes their complexity or musical significance.
