"13 Sonnets and a Mermaid"

Daniel Pérez Fernández (Zamora, 1956) presents a voice and guitar concert in a completely original work, with music and lyrics that he composed himself.

The recital's uniqueness lies in its use of the sonnet as a verse structure for the songs, something very unusual in musical composition. This choice pays homage to the rich tradition of the sonnet in Spanish literature (Garcilaso, Quevedo, Lorca, etc.) and underscores the value of defending Spanish as a language of culture.

The thirteen sonnets explore the feeling of love with a depth that transcends the purely emotional.

Daniel Pérez is a playwright, former director of the Teatro Principal de Zamora (1987-2022) and member of the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts.
