Caja España, Success and Failure (the author's third book on savings banks), is the most accurate expression of the two sides of the same coin. It depicts the two phases that marked the short life of Caja España: an initial period of success, encompassing its arduous establishment and early years; and a subsequent period of failure, the years that ultimately led to its demise. This book is written with seriousness, rigor, and objectivity, revealing the truth about the institution.
The title is complemented by the following subtitle: Foundation, Evolution, and Demise . This phrase concisely and precisely summarizes the content of the work. The term "foundation" refers to the period from the beginning of the process of creating the new savings bank until its establishment. The term " evolution" encompasses the period from its creation until its demise. And the term "demise" refers to the period in which negotiations took place with Unicaja for its merger by absorption, a process that would conclude with the disappearance of the institution.

Luis Ángel Alonso Saravia (Mucientes, Valladolid, 1955) holds a degree in Philosophy and Educational Sciences, specializing in Psychology, from the Pontifical University of Salamanca. He completed doctoral coursework in Clinical Psychology at the University of Salamanca and pursued further studies in Philosophy at the Higher Institute of Philosophy (Dominican Fathers, Valladolid), affiliated with the Pontifical University of Salamanca, as well as studies in Business Administration at the University School of Business Studies of Valladolid. His entire professional career has been in the financial sector. He has worked for various savings banks and Caja España, holding positions of responsibility such as Branch Manager, Human Resources Specialist, and Director of Recruitment, Management, and Training.
