Victor Prieto Lorenzo's first book of poems delves into the concerns of today's anesthetized society: insecurities, doubts, and unanswered questions.
Water is presented as an elusive metaphor for a liquid society in terms of affections, relationships, and commitments, where social networks represent the waterfall that drags us towards the abyss.
But there is hope in these pages: an essence that remains and resists the onslaught of change beneath the level of the reservoirs and that emerges in times of crisis, in drought.
Víctor Prieto Lorenzo (Zamora, 1988) was born on All Saints' Day and now, years later, works as a forensic doctor in Salamanca. Alongside his extensive training as a healthcare professional and later as a civil servant in the Ministry of Justice, Prieto cultivated a passion for literature that led him to write his own texts. The first publications born from this inclination could be read on a blog called Jaionara Baby and heard at impromptu recitals in bars. From there, the author moved on to collaborating with various media outlets before immersing himself in his first book of poems, *La sequía* (The Drought), a work in which his deep-rooted connection to the Aliste region sprouts in the place where water should be. He is the literary voice of revelation that has conquered the Spanish publishing scene.
