On Thursday, October 30th , at 7:30 p.m. , in the Auditorium of the Palencia Public Library , the book presentation of Julio Llamazares 's "El viaje de mi padre" (My Father's Journey) will take place. A journey through the memory of the Spanish Civil War.

As always, when my father told me those stories, I didn't pay much attention, and now I regret it. My father died early, and his memories remained in that limbo of memory where the lives of those who came before us fade, those we didn't hear when they were alive. Later, we regret it, and, like me now, we try to piece together his little stories from the scraps of what remained in the air and that we can still remember.

In honor of his father and his companions, but also to explore a territory, one that runs through the backbone of the Iberian Peninsula, that encapsulates its essence like few others, the author has repeated his journey, doing so during the same months of the year as theirs, in an attempt to experience what they felt, even if it were only in reference to the climate. Along the way, he met characters who keep alive the memory of that terrible winter, the worst of the 20th century, and of a hot spring and summer by the sea. He also met some of the stories his father told him, which the landscapes still retain, still floating like a patina, "for history remains in the places where it happened, like words do in memory."
