On Thursday, October 23rd at 7:00 PM , in the Auditorium of the Palencia Public Library , writer Pilar Adón will present her work "Las iras." This event will feature Concha Lobejón, who will be in conversation with the author.

Can beauty emerge after horror? Is peace possible after extreme revenge? The characters in these stories, as disturbing as they are beautiful, as unsettling as they are endowed with a fierce sensitivity, long for calm, to live without fear, to have a landscape to call home, clinging to their notion of what happiness, freedom, and love should be, with no room for betrayal. They are certain that the affection they once felt for each other must last forever. But what happens when their expectations are dashed? What if trust is broken? Where then are the shared ideas of morality and justice? This new book by Pilar Adón, in which she displays the literary firmness to which her readers are accustomed, takes us to the realm of the angel-like monster. To settings where innocence, affection, and intimacy seem to reign, but which soon reveal themselves dominated by hostility and transgression. With a lofty concept of friendship, the protagonists of The Wraths humiliate, wound, and kill, relying on rules imposed by themselves that must be followed. They may then end up in a well or wandering through a wasteland, staring blankly, devoured by themselves or locked in a house. And we, at their side, witness the corruption of paradise, the relentless battle between candor and terror, serenity and ferocity, equally peering into the immensity of the abyss.
