"No pasa nada" by Bego Prados is a text full of tenderness and irony about the less narrated aspects of motherhood and an unusual journey through autism, a condition inseparable from our nature.
Midday in Navajo Nation, an endless highway, a family abandoned to their fate, and the beginning of a story that is not what it seems. This is how Nothing Happens begins, an essay that starts like a thriller and in which fictionalized testimony is interwoven with expository information.
Narrated by the mother of an autistic child, *No pasa nada* (It's OK) addresses disability from the perspective of motherhood and pushes us to question our own definition of " normal ." This book humorously celebrates this unconventional motherhood and, alongside figures like Temple Grandin and Donna Williams, explores some of the defining characteristics of autism.
We will leave the American desert and follow this family to Switzerland. A country famous for its wealth and progress, but where the obstacles for those who are " different " are not diminishing either. These issues, addressed through necessary social commentary, will form part of this atypical narrative. An invitation to embrace our diversity as a species and a cry for care and inclusion.
