On Friday, October 23rd at 7:00 p.m. , in the Auditorium of the Palencia Public Library , the presentation of the book Para vivir muriendo by Marcelo Matas de Álvaro , the third installment of the series La urdimbre y la trama, will take place.
Andrés Retamar, a Philology student with aspirations of becoming a writer, sets out to tell the tragic story of Luis Escobar, his childhood best friend. Intending to broaden perspectives, he asks three roommates to write biographical sketches of Luis, who, in giving their accounts of Luis's life, take the opportunity to talk about themselves. From there, the narrator decides to write his friend's story from his own unique perspective, but the arrival of Ella, their neighbor in the neighborhood where they were born and raised, helps to delve deeper into the personality of "the strangest boy in the world." This alternation of narrative voices, combined with different literary forms (theater, poetry, newspaper articles, reviews of the trilogy's novels), lends a singular structure to a work in which, linked to the character of Ella, the reader witnesses a transgressive representation of the Electra myth on a church altar. Behind the successive masks that simultaneously conceal and reveal the figure of his friend - transformed into the controversial actor Luis Guevara - Andrés also shapes his own imagined identity.
