Between Bunks and Stations: Stories and Memories of the Night Trains of the 80s is a book dedicated to recovering the memory of those night trains that for decades were part of the daily lives of many travelers. Through its pages appear the bunks, the sleeping cars, the stations illuminated at dawn, the farewells on the platforms, the long night journeys, and that very special atmosphere that accompanied train travel in another era.

The book combines personal recollections, railway history, and historical evocation to reconstruct a form of travel that connected cities, families, students, workers, and occasional travelers. More than just a work about railways, it is also a human and sentimental look at trains that left a deep mark on the collective memory.

Juan J. Álvarez experienced the world of night trains firsthand as an employee of Wagons-Lits . Drawing on this personal experience, he writes with intimacy and sensitivity about life on board, the stations, the passengers, and the railway atmosphere of the 1980s.

In addition to his interest in railway history, he is the author of popular and cultural works that combine documentation, personal experience, and an evocative perspective on the land, travel, and heritage. In *Between Bunks and Stations*, he recovers a much-loved part of the recent history of the Spanish railway.
