In Divinas Palabras, Atalaya revisits the great work of 20th-century theater, considered by many literary critics to be the most sublime dramatic work written in Spanish during that century. The central theme is none other than greed, lust, and death, which Valle-Inclán described like no other, revealing with tremendous cruelty—but also with a grotesque touch—the human misery embodied in the family of a village sacristan, a story that can easily be extrapolated to our own reality. Valle-Inclán uses poetic and symbolic language; his characters are representative of moral and social decadence. Atalaya brings a very contemporary feel, opting for a powerful set and lighting design. Energy, imagery, chants, and choral singing are ever-present. Magic will abound.
