"Enlighten us"
This April, the Public Library of Avila hosts a unique exhibition starring the first-year students of the Higher Cycles of Comics and Illustration of the School of Art of Avila.
Under the direction of Beatriz Gómez Santamaría and Carlos Martín Nieto , the exhibition explores the evolution of the children's story from its classical roots to modern irony.
The exhibition features a series of illustrations inspired by Roald Dahl's book of the same name. The students have reinterpreted traditional stories such as Little Red Riding Hood , Snow White , and The Three Little Pigs, applying concepts of visual synthesis, exaggeration, and stylization.
The key points are:
- Tradition and modernity: A journey that spans from ancient engravings to the contemporary illustrated book.
- Master influences: The work pays homage to great figures such as Walter Crane, John Tenniel or Quentin Blake.
- Creativity as a couple: Each work is the result of teamwork, merging historical techniques with a current visual narrative.
A bridge between art and reading
This activity, part of the Fundamentals of Representation and Visual Expression module, aims to foster active reading through artistic interpretation. It's a perfect opportunity to discover how the new generation of local artists is reimagining the stories that have always been with us.
This exhibition is organized in collaboration with the School of Art and the LeoCyL program.
Free admission (within library operating hours).
