On Thursday, March 26, at 7 p.m., a musical approach to Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer with La Mirada de Orfeo.
The Gaze of Orpheus presents us with a journey, initiated by the prose of the Sevillian writer, in which music and words join hands to tell us in the first person what happened within those walls of rest and tranquility of the monastery of Santa María de Veruela.
After extensive fieldwork, revisiting all the places Bécquer frequented during his time at the monastery, which he so meticulously describes in his book "Letters from My Cell," La Mirada de Orfeo presents a performance rich in Bécquerian nuances, highlighting not only his prose but also his lyricism. Through his poetry, stories from his own life, his anxieties and desires, his longings and fears are woven together. All of this is united in a descriptive narrative featuring the people of the Veruela Valley and various folk legends about them. This new musical work, entitled "From My Cell," presented by the chamber ensemble, is imbued with symbolism and a continuous parallel with everything that transpired during his time at Veruela.
La Mirada de Orfeo is a chamber music duo formed by mezzo-soprano Inmaculada Navarro Ruano and pianist Alfonso Carrascosa Clement. This ensemble emerged after several years of intensive work, driven by the search for new repertoire and a more personal interpretation. They have a diverse portfolio of literary and musical projects based on various writers, which they have presented in theaters and concert halls in Castilla-La Mancha, the Valencian Community, and the Region of Murcia. They also recently participated in the Musiquem Lleida International Festival on October 5, 2024. The project they present today is the fruit of their artistic maturity, illuminating the figure of Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer.
Free admission until full capacity.
