Amalgama Folk invites us on a journey through their most representative pieces, where traditional Castilian music, collected by the group themselves, engages in dialogue with other sounds that form part of our shared history. The program highlights the ties that bind Castilla y León to the Canary Islands and Latin America, where many people from Castile and León had ancestors. For centuries, many of these territories were part of the Castilian Crown, and from this historical encounter a mestizo culture was born, the result of the fusion between Castilian roots and indigenous influences that also returned to us.
Through this crossroads, Amalgama Folk recovers a shared musical memory that remains alive, celebrating diversity and cultural fusion as an essential part of our identity with many songs that have traveled back and forth, sung on both sides of the Atlantic. The group's trajectory validates this approach. Their work has garnered significant acclaim: Un viaje hacia nuestras raíces (2017) achieved national recognition; the Himno de Monzón de Campos (2019) was considered the Anthem of Rural Spain; and Circumterra, Primera Vuelta al Mundo (2022) became an official activity of the Commission for the Fifth Centenary of the Circumnavigation, endorsed by the Government of Spain and the European Union. This last album was recognized by Diario Folk as one of the 30 best folk albums in Spain in 2022, received 5 nominations at the MIN Awards, and was featured on national media outlets such as Radio 3 and Radio Clásica.
Furthermore, Amalgama Folk has established itself as an international group, with distribution in over 80 countries and appearances on prominent radio stations such as the BBC. Their album Circumterra was chosen by Global Village (USA and Canada) as one of the 11 best folk albums worldwide in 2022, and they recently won Silver at the One World Music Awards, reaching a global audience of over one million listeners in 160 countries.
