He who stumbles and does not fall is an improvised comedy about error, mistakes and creativity.
In a contemporary world where we often feel that we are required to be perfect at all times, in all areas of our lives, from physical appearance to academic or professional performance, Impromadrid has created a show in which error is permitted and celebrated. As the saying goes, "He who stumbles and does not fall, moves forward."
On this occasion, a live improvising cartoonist, a live improvising musician, and five improvising actors compete in the live creation of seven original pieces based on suggestions from the audience.
Each piece reflects on setbacks, mistakes, and how we deal with making mistakes:
- - The everyday and habitual error, an inherent part of being human.
- - The need to listen to each other
- - Doubt and its usefulness
- - Love and its flaws. Who hasn't been in love? Who hasn't broken up with someone at some point? Why do we keep trying?
- - Idleness (as the mother of all vices and, at the same time, as the principle of all creativity.
- - Reason. What does it mean to be right? Why do we like it so much? How can we cling so tightly to being right, knowing that we're often wrong?
- - Stories and happiness. If we get along better with our mistakes... will we be happier? Are stories a source of happiness?
Can we get along better with our setbacks?
