Valladolid Museum. This is a shallow, circular pillar with a curved exterior. The upper part of the rim features a combination of geometric, plant, and animal motifs (a bird, a snake, a dolphin, a fish, a bird, and an incomplete figure that could be a peacock). The animal figures are engraved with a deep incision, while the plant and geometric elements are beveled. The flattened base rests on a pillar or column. Since the first half of the 7th century, baptismal fonts, suitable for the baptism of infants, have been in widespread use. Previously, the sacrament of baptism was administered to adult catechumens in immersion pools.

Found in the manor house of an ancient late Roman villa, this font has been considered an Early Christian work, dating from the 4th-5th centuries, although it was also considered pre-Roman. However, its technical and stylistic similarity to other Hispano-Visigothic elements allows it to be dated to an advanced Hispano-Visigothic period.
