The Violeta Film Cycle in Burgos , promoted by the Coordinator of NGOs of Castilla y León (CODECYL) , uses cinema as a tool to make gender inequalities visible, with screenings that address issues such as violence against women and empowerment.

This year, 2026, three short films will be screened at the Gonzalo de Berceo Library:

1. "Idjwi: Sowing the Future" (NGO Project Rubare) This documentary tells the story of African women on the island of Idjwi and the problems they face, including extreme poverty and children living in deplorable conditions. It focuses particularly on a project aimed at creating a women's cooperative in a war zone.

2. "Mbokatoor. At the heart of a peasant association for the processing of local products" (NGO Anvo Africam) At the heart of the Mbokatoor Local Association, in the middle of the African Sahel, human rights such as the right to land and the right to sustainable agriculture are worked on and defended. The produce is processed and consumed as local, locally sourced food. Women play a vital role in this human chain that fosters food sovereignty. Their training and skills development enable them to access decent work and receive fair compensation, thus acquiring a relevant, not subsidiary, role in the family economy.

3. "We Want to Learn: Fighting the Feminization of Poverty in Africa" ​​(NGO Persona Solidaridad) This documentary focuses on a project that aims to empower adolescent girls and young women in Kigoma, Tanzania, by improving their economic independence and personal autonomy. More specifically, it seeks to ensure they benefit from a complete and quality education, empowering them by providing useful knowledge and skills, starting with an essential tool like a sewing machine.
