1961, Navafría Penitentiary Sanatorium. Pacífico Pérez, suffering from tuberculosis, is in prison for murder. He is about to be tried and presumably sentenced to garrote vil for another crime.


Pacífico Pérez has lived surrounded by an environment of aggression and violence; all of his ancestors are marked by the various wars in which they have participated.

Dr. Burgueño, in an attempt to help him, convinces him to talk about his life, sensing that behind Pacífico and his actions lies some as-yet-uncovered mystery. These conversations will be recorded on a tape recorder, in case the story might be useful in his defense.
