On Friday, November 20th, we celebrated our 12th Storytelling Marathon , which this year is entitled The Art of Fulfilling Promises.

Happy birthday…happy birthday…if it's about celebrating…I'M IN! And you…Are you in? Because you're one of our guests.

It all began 40 years ago. A room full of books you could pick up, look at, touch, browse, savor…and even borrow. It was cause for celebration. Well, imagine that was just the beginning. Then came more rooms, more books. And workshops, and series or exhibitions. And people, so many people, searching and finding, others helping and advising. Users, librarians…and so, 40 years. 14,600 days to celebrate. And books…so many books.

And Storytelling Marathons! I haven't mentioned "Marathons," yet they are also part of this library's history and another reason to celebrate. Twelve years dedicated to stories and the spoken word.

And dreams! I haven't spoken about "Dreams." And yet they are also part of the history of this library. Many people came here with a dream and made it a reality through books, study, research, and creation.

And resolutions, and goals, and promises…! I haven't talked about all of that, and I'm sure you all have one.

Life is all about that: celebrating. And it's even better when you're with others.

That's why this 12th Palencia Storytelling Marathon welcomes all books that speak of these things: of fulfilling goals, celebrating, aiming, dreaming, parties, and gatherings. The passage of time, places that grow, as well as people and events. Because no one escapes the passage of time… And we've always been big on celebrating life.

We trust in your creativity.

Bases for participation:

Topic: Traveling Libraries

  • Please confirm your participation before November 13th at 23:59, so we can organize ourselves
  • People of all ages are welcome to participate.
  • Choose a story related to the topic that you really want to tell.
  • The story can be for a family audience or for an adult audience .
  • Oral expression is the main theme of this activity. We don't read stories...we narrate them. (This is very important.)
  • The speaking time will be 5 minutes maximum. (This is also important.)
  • You can count individually or in a group.
  • We can use a physical story to show the illustrations (not reading) but NOT other elements (leaves, puppets, chairs, sets, etc.)
  • The morning schedule is reserved for schools and institutes.
  • The afternoon schedule is split (family audience/adult audience)
  • And... prepare it with lots of love
